Music GCSE is a practically based course but also
involves a certain amount of theory and history. It is divided into four
sections:

Set Assignment 25%
This is a composition based on one of
the areas of study and set by the board in the final term. It must have a
realisation and includes an exam evaluation.
The set areas of study for the new course include popular song, dance
music, film music, music for special events and orchestral landmarks.
